Chicago ranked most 'accessible' Internet market in United States, 9-16-2002
By S.A. Mawhorr e-buzz

Chicago recently was ranked as the city with the most Internet access compared to all others in the nation.

Chicago wins for best access with 41 major Internet backbone providers, according to an Ohio State University study conducted with support from the National Science Foundation. The city also came in first when researchers considered the ease of connecting to other cities via the Internet.

Chicago's connectivity is related to the fact it was one of the nation's original network access points where Internet service providers interconnect and exchange data flow, according to researchers Morton E. O'Kelly and Tony Grubesic.

Identity management: The Paris-based consulting firm of NET2S is sponsoring a free seminar on identity management and how to provide secure access to computer systems for employees and business partners. Seth Rachlin, the identity management practice manager for NET2S, will discuss user administration, single sign-on, access control and entitlements. Reserve a seat by calling (312) 786-6003 or sending a message to csahli@net2s.com.
